Ive done it, and frankly it was one of the best flights of my life. The plane was super new and modern, very cool interactive personal entertainment systems. The stopover in Istanbul was not bad, as the airport is decently comfortable. Disclaimer however, that I flew about two years ago, so before the ‘Mavi Marmara’ incident when relations between the respective countries were far better. Now, not sure if I would do it again…..

I’ve struggled through the same decision for a while. End of the day, buying will be cheaper, both on the amount you pay for the car and on the reduced insurance that you are required to carry. Conversely, buying will incur far more headaches, as it is your problem every time some little issue arises. Additionally, if there is a BIG issue like engine or tranny or muffler, etc., you wont necessarily have saved any money, while having driven an older model than in a lease.

Do you then disagree with the Department of Sanitation’s program of yellow stickers on the windows of alternate side violators? I am not asking if you like having to scrap it off your window, but do you disagree with their program?

    Wolf,

Can you not agree with the simple proposition that one who is inconsiderate towards others would possibly learn from being on the receiving end, and thus might possibly change their behavior? I am not asking you to agree that he “deserved it”, rather that sometimes you have to be obnoxious to obnoxious people to get them to see the effects of their actions.

people block my driveway all the time. i always call 311 and my local precinct right away, because to tow it, the car has to first be ticketed. since the cops really dont care, and its low on their priority list I can be stuck without my driveway for hours, so I keep a gluestick and signs saying DONT BLOCK MY DRIVEWAY waiting by the front door :-)why shouldnt i have some fun with it?

Wolf, when i glue signs on the cars, i place them only on windows, and with a gluestick not crazy glue. this is similar and a lot easier to remove then those annoying yellow department of sanitation stickers. it is a nuisance to remove, but not as much of a nuisance as being stuck without my – legal – driveway

This is my 2L summer, and I live in Brooklyn. I would like to find something within reasonable commuting distance of there. I would preferably like to spend my summer in a place where I may have a future, post-graduation, but should something like that not materialize, anywhere where I gain valuable experience.

Homeowner: I certainly wouldnt mind assisting on a pro bono project, I do those all the time for attorneys, who all are my strongest business references now. Ive done credit card reduction, fighting foreclosures, pro bono a tenant on an Article 78 petition to NYS Supreme, I’m in charge of my schools chapter on Unemployment Insurance Advocacy and a ton of other things

Asyyeger, to reiterate, I already am in a paid internship at a small firm, I was just asking the general YWN network whether they had or knew of something interesting which would advance my experience and possibly my career.already did two summers in the courts so that area is a bit “been there done that” for me.

    Sacrilege,

Already have, I’ve learnt though that most real connections and opportunities arise from networking, so here I am.

So back to my original, (and well-practiced) question: Anyone know of a Summer or Spring Intern, Associate, Clerk position? Several of you seem to be seasoned practitioners, and if you have (or know of) any such openings, your help would be appreciated. I’ve got pretty decent references, writing samples and Resume.

Homeowner, I sure have, NYC Law Dept, D.A. etc. Already have judicial internships on the resume so not that. There are lots of applicants for not too many jobs, however, and that causes fierce competition for the most basic jobs. I am currently part-time doing heavy motion practice at a plaintiff-side PI litigation firm.(paid, but not great $$) If you know of anything….

Zalmy, as a 2L at Cardozo I think you did the poster a tremendous favor by writing a long, detailed post exposing the problems with the legal field. That being said, looking for summer (or spring semester) employment, know of anything for me? 🙂 (while written in a humorous vein, dead serious about the employment issue, I’m quite good at research, writing and motion practice) Thanks!

yes I received a BTL from a yeshiva in israel and i am currently on a very generous academic scholarship at a large prestigious law school in manhattan. it stands for Bachelor of Talmudic Law. that being said, unless youre contemplating law, theres limited use for it, however i do know my friend has the same degree and hes in an MBA program. Additionally, as much as i love the fact that i didnt spend needless years in college, similarly placed students in my class have a leg up because they were accumalating business experience for their resume those years while i was not.
