Louie Scheiner should be taking care of the program. Food would of been off the charts, great music, Trump would have been there, and YY would introduce him. Rechnitz would give the Divrei Bracha on Trump.

Of course Schottenstein could still say the kaddish

My rov, who is a respected rov throughout the country, is against the ready-to-use, store bought menorahs, and thats because part of the mitzvah is the work and the dedication you put into it. something you really value you put your kishkes into it and do it yourself. Avraham Avinu saddled his donkey on his own by the Akeidah because of his love for the Mitzvah. someone who loves his car will never go to a drive thru car wash, he’llspend an entire saturday morning washing and waxing his car to perfection.

If pesach for you is all about the chazti lachem, go to a hotel, maybe you’ll forget about the fact that its even a yom tov – isnt that the point of trying to imitate every chometzdik food under the sun? but if pesach is about having hakaras hatov to Hashem for Yetzias Mitzraim and trying to build on out relationship with Him and starting the journey to Kabbolas haTorah, then put your heart and soul into it and show that you care.

in yeshivas in europe, the bochurim would fight over who got to clean the Bais Medrash. Cleaning for pesach isnt demeaning or inhumane, its an opportunity to show that we’re willing to do anything for Hashem and tha we’re not just in it for ourselves

sorry to say davesirr, but you’re mistaken. koolay alma modeh that WITS and Miami are the two most serious branches, both have expert, veteran, and experienced rabbeim, and are a good choice for any serious bochur. IF you’re looking for younger rabbeim who are easier to get a kesher with, vancouver and Dallas are excellent choices, and St. Louis just started a bais medrash program, and Rabbi Goldman is one of the best in the business, everyone who has had him wil swear by him.

Shmuelgr – if you’re looking for small, WITS and Miami arent what you want, it sounds like Vancouver is the best of the three options, smaller BM, amazing younger rabbeim. hatzlacha.

pashtus there are more yeshiva bochurim who are giants fans than pats/ravens/niners fans, so if the giants win, its another two weeks of bitul torah until the super bowl

oh, and anyone who cant learn because theyre too depressed about the giants losing shouldnt be following football anyway. as a gadol once said, theres nothing wrong with folowing football as long as you realize thats its shtus vahevel

the chazon ish had a shitah that you cant follow a halachah if you were m’ayain properly and disagree. He holds that you cant use any metal, even nails, to keep a succah together, even though there is a Ritva that says b’feirush that you can, and the bais yosef paskens like that ritva. i assume R’ Moshe had this shitah to some extent as well, but this isnt a universal shitah, and even if you do hold of it, it would only matter if you looked into the sugya properly, which i doubt anyone except a gadol/posek could be sure of – meaning pashtus anyone reading this is not enough of a talmid chacham to decide thathe is 100% sure that a rishon or acharon is wrong. be safe, ask your posek what to do if a shailah comes up, definitely dont argue with rishonim.

Avi K: the Gra, according to many gedolim, was on the level of rishonim. a certain gadol said he was on the Rashba’s level of learning, so thats not a ra’aya at all

in reply to: Does Neturei Karta have a point? #843641

You guys are all getting totally off topic, chances are that if your not satmar you don’t hold what they do, even off they have some validity, they make serious chillul hashems and should b stopped. How much of their “hashkafa” is Torah hashkafa is very debatable. For real Halacha or hashkafa issues, there’s no one size fits all, go ask your rov. CR is for advice and opinions, and none of the CR users are a Baal shita when it comes to any real issues, so stop wasting your time, and others’.

that is true. we all figure it out eventually.

btw oomis, that pun was pretty lame, better not mention it next time, no one would have noticed it

in reply to: Girls High School Curriculum: Maybe all the schools need to do this #870017

that doesnt exactly seem the main curriculum. thats more just a weekly enrichment class or something. obviously that would be nice to learn, in addition to the other materials
