    I haven’t heard the song in a while, but I do remember hearing the reason for the change. ?? ???? ??? ???? reflects ???”?, while the ??? ???? ???? is ??? ?????. It is more appropriate to say ?? ??? ???? ???? ???? ???????.

Feif Un – IIRC the lyrics were written by R’ Yonosan Schwartz. He had R’ Abish Brodt record it and released it for a simcha. He then tweeked the words a little and rerecorded for the official tape.

    Most notably he changed the words from ???? ??? ???? ???? ??????? to ??? ???? ???? ???? ???????

Listen to his recorded lectures, study his sefarim; that should give you a glimpse of what Rabbi Pincus zt”l was.

When and why did it become a “mitzvah” to have a game featured at a Chanukah party? I have noticed that families try to outdo each other by coming up with the newest game. Yes, there is a minhag of playing draidel, but the games that people are playing today have no source in halacha or minhag. Chanukah is not the time to follow chukas hagoy!

As a side note, many of the “games” played lack in tznius and menchlichkeit, and end up causing much loshon hora and machlokes. “It’s only a game” is not an excuse to delve into other peoples private life and sholom bayis. Games like how well do you know your friend/spouse, hadwriting analysis, pranking etc. are unacceptable and inexcusable (even if “he’s my brother-in-law” or “she’s my sister-in-law” etc.).
