An Asifa was held in New York on Wednesday attended by a number of admorim, including both Satmar Rebbes Shlita. The gathering was hosted in the Hisachdus Horabbonim office in Williamsburg, and other admorim present included the Pupa Rebbe, Viner Rebbe, HaRav Yisrael Hager (Av Beis Din Vishnitz Monsey & son of the rebbe), and other Rabbonim.
The rabbonim discussed concerns surrounding the intervention by government health officials into bris milah, the result of the death of an infant from herpes blamed on metzitzah b’peh. The story has earned a prominent place in the mainstream media in NYC. The rabbonim expressed grave concerns over the unwanted intervention that threatens this mitzvah, seeking to find a way to persuade the medical community to change its viewpoint.
A number of askanim and physicians attended the meeting as well, contributing their knowledge and viewpoints from a medical and community activism point of view.

You know,if this is what it takes to get the two Satmar Rebbes together, it might be worth it! I wonder whether Metzitzah B’peh or Shalom amongst all the fighting Rebbes in Klal Yisroel is more important to Hashem. Anyone?

To Gershon….neither of the Bobover rebbes attended. Clearly this is not a high priority for them or should it be. The attention this whole issue is getting seems absurd, given that there is a small risk to the life of the baby. The Bobover hopefully don’t think its worth the sakanas nefesh to maintain a practice which many gadolim, shlita say is NOT a chiuyv.

before you accuse bobover rebbes for not making a high priority for them to help fight metzitza bpeh, just for ur info, 5 years ago NY Mayor Mike Bloomberg held a meeting with both bobov rebbes & both satmar rebbes about this issue when the health dept. tried to ban metzitzah & they both attened together and held it as a main priority, so dont write before you talk,and here is proof,

This was a williamsburg gathering, not boro park. This is why bobov wasnt there. At similar events in boro park or city-wide events they were there.
but one of the satmar rabbe’s live in upstate, not in williamsburg
