Rabbi Brodsky Z’TL was from the old time Mir. He was the menahel in the Beth Jacob Beth Miriam Bais Yaakov in the West Bronx from 1958, and then the school relocated in the Young Israel of Pelham Parkway in the North East Bronx.
The Founder of the BJBM was Rabbi Yeruchem Gorelik Z’TL, whose son Z’TL was the Rosh Yeshiva in South Fallsburg. Rabbi Gorelik Z’TL was the Rosh Yeshiva of Zichron Moshe, which had over 300 boys B’H bli ayin harah. BJBM had over 550 girls B’H bli ayin harah, and I studied there. Rebbetzin Fishman and Rebbetzin Soloveichik, Rabbi Abba Zions Z’TL, Rabbi Emanuel Schwartz all taught there. The BJBM closed after a yovel and in the end they had many Russian girls.

Rabbi Brodsky Z’TL loved all the girls as his own and he was always happy and smiling. He lost his daughter Chavi A’H many years ago and she left a young family.

Please advise where they will be sitting shiva and a phone #.

Rabbi Brodsky Z’TL and his Rebbetzin A’H came to our wedding and he came to both my parents’ A’H levaya.

May his illustrous family, I’YH have much nechama and may his neshama have an aliya. May Rav Brodsky Z’TL be a meilitz yashar for his dear family and for Klall Yisrael!
Hamakom yenachem etchem betoch shaar aveilay Zion ve Yerushalayim!

  3. @remoish: The name of the daughter that was niftar was Shayna Perel. Shayna passed away approximately 20 years ago. I knew Shayna personally and she was one of the nicest women I have ever known and is still missed by many of her friends.

@BestBubby: When the Beth Jacob Beth Miriam School was housed in the Young Israel of Pelham Parkway there were also boys enrolled in it. Not just for Kindergarten and Nursery. Grades 1-8. Yes, many were Russian and many were American.

The school closed in 2008/09 (if I’m not mistaken) and shortly after so did the Young Israel of Pelham Parkway. It is now housed in another shul(in PP).

  4. Rav Shimshon Brodsky Z’TL was my Rosh Yeshiva in 1952 at yeshiva zichron moshe in the Bronx at 1520 JESUP AVE .I have a picture of him and the entire graduating class taken in the school yard and would share memories of the yeshiva with anybody interested. e-mail me at [email protected] It is hard to believe that this was 60 years ago

  5. Rav Brodsky, Zatzal, was the Limudei Kodesh Principal of Yeshiva Zichron Moshe in the Bronx, which I attended from 1948-1956.
He was a gentle, compassionate man, small in stature yet a giant in Midos. I willo always remember his smile…
