Kiryat Malachi resident 42-year-old David Ivgi was seriously wounded on the second day of Operation Pillar of Defense. He was running from his vehicle for cover as the sirens signaled an incoming rocket attack and was struck by a truck. He has since been hospitalized and on Tuesday, 19 Sivan 5774, died of his injuries sustained in that incident.

Ivgi was hospitalized in a number of hospitals since the IDF launched the eight-day offensive against Hamas in Gaza on November 14, 2012.

The levaya took place in Kiryat Malachi.
