NYS Boater Safety Course In Monticello

The Sullivan County Sheriff’s Office in conjunction with the Monticello Fire Dept. will present the final New York State Boater Safety Course of the season on July 7th and 8th from 6pm to 10pm, on both nights. There is no charge to take this course.

A New York State Boater Safety certificate is now required for anyone, regardless of age, operating a personal watercraft, such as a wave runner or jet ski, in New York State.

The Safety Certificate is also required for the operation of a motorboat by persons ages 10 to17.  While there is no charge to take this course, the state of New York charges a $10 fee to issue the certificate to those 18 and older. Students must attend both nights to receive the certificate.

The class will be held at the Firemen’s Camp in Monticello. To register and receive directions, interested citizens are directed to call the Sullivan County Sheriff’s Office at 845-794-7100.

You must pre-register – seating is limited. You must be at least 10 years old to attend. The certificate is good for life.
