With just a few days before the election, gubernatorial candidates Andrew Cuomo and Carl Paladino hit the campaign trail Saturday to make a final push for votes.
Democrat and front-runner Andrew Cuomo spent the day in Saratoga County, the last of the state’s 62 counties, which he pledged to visit before Election Day.
Cuomo spoke to about 350 people inside a barn.
Meanwhile, Republican opponent Carl Paladino spent the day campaigning upstate in Watertown.
As they reach the home stretch both candidates did take a few last minute digs at each other.
“Andrew Cuomo is a poster child for everything that’s wrong in the State of New York. He was born with a silver spoon in his mouth and he’d make sure that we all know it,” Paladino said.
“Do I wish it was more about the issues and more substantive? Yes. But it’s an angry time and some people chose to play to the anger we didn’t and I’m proud of the campaign that we’re running,” Cuomo said.
Many polls show Cuomo with a steady double digit lead over the Buffalo businessman.
Paladino says he’s optimistic that voter turnout will lean in his favor.
