THE LAS VEGAS SHOOTER: Stephen Paddock, 64, of Mesquite, Nevada; Killed Himself As Police Entered [PHOTO]

The shooter has been identified as Stephen Paddock, 64, from Mesquite Nevada. He opened fire from 32nd floor of Mandalay Bay Hotel during a Jason Aldean concert that has thus far led to the deaths of over 50 people and 200 injuries. He is believed to have been an accountant with no criminal record. He had a private pilot license and it also appears that he was a plaintiff in a lawsuit against another Las Vegas hotel.

A federal law enforcement official said  cache of weapons was found inside the hotel room where Paddock died, and investigators believe the suspect used the vantage point to fire on the crowd below gathered for an outdoor country music concert.

Paddock was found dead in his hotel room with as many as 10 firearms.

Police blocked off the road to the suspect’s home in Mesquite, 80 miles northeast of Las Vegas. Records show that Paddock resided at 1372 Babbling Brook Court in a house he purchased in 2015.

The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department obtained a search warrant and officers are en route to search Paddock’s home, said Quinn Barrett, public information officer for the Mesquite Police Department. He said the department had secured the home and the perimeter around it but is playing only a supportive role in the investigation.

Paddock was not known to the federal authorities, but was known to local law enforcement, NBC News reported. Paddock had no known connection to terrorism.

The brother of the Las Vegas shooter said that he was a normal guy who must have ‘snapped’ before carrying out the worst mass shooting in American history. In an exclusive interview with DailyMail.com, Eric Paddock said that ‘something happened’ to make his brother Stephen kill at least 50 people and injure 200.

Eric said that there was ‘absolutely no indication he could do something like this’ and said that Stephen had no political or religious affiliation.

He said: ‘He was just a guy. Something happened, he snapped or something’.

Speaking from his home in Orlando, Florida, Eric said: ‘We know absolutely nothing, this is just, we are dumbfounded.

Police were looking for a “person of interest,” a 4’11” Asian woman named Marilou Danley. She was described as a “companion” of the shooter. A photo of her can be seen below. Sheriff Joe Lombardo said at a press conference that they believe they have located her, but did not provide any other details.

Police said Danley, 62, lived with the shooter in Mesquite. Public records show she lived at the same address as him since January 2017. Authorities have not yet said what role, if any, they believe she played in the shooting. They have also not said if she was seen with the suspect at the Mandalay Bay hotel or elsewhere prior to the shooting.

The first photo of the alleged assailant has been published by the Mirror and is included here but cannot be confirmed independently.
