Installation Of Long Awaited Safety Barriers On Route 17 Completed

route 17.jpgThe installation of new guardrails have been completed Wednesday on a historically deadly stretch of Route 17 – as reported HERE on YW. The project began in mid-June and involved erecting safety barriers on an 18-mile stretch of the highway between Harriman and Middletown. The barriers are designed to prevent drivers from crossing the median and slamming into oncoming traffic.

In October, a Brooklyn couple was R”L killed (reported HERE) when their car crossed from the eastbound to the westbound lanes and crashed into another vehicle. The guardrails in that area had already been scheduled for installation within days of the accident.
