Jared Kushner has told friends he and Ivanka Trump do not have permanent plans to remain in Washington, saying they would review whether they want to stay in D.C every six months, The New York Times reported on Saturday.

President Donald Trump’s daughter and son-in-law have been under intense scrutiny after accepting high profile positions within the administration. Ivanka serves as the President’s personal adviser while her husband Jared serves as Trump�s senior adviser. The Washington Post reported late Friday that Kushner is now a person of interest in the ongoing federal investigation into possible ties between the Trump campaign and Russia. Kushner reportedly attempted to set up a �secret and secure� backchannel with the Kremlin, and suggested that Russian diplomatic facilities in the United States be used to do so.

A further report suggests the couple are �not sold� on Washington life. A source told Politico that Ivanka feels she and Jared haven�t accomplished as much as they�d hoped in the time they�ve been there. Kushner is reportedly �unhappy� and �miserable� in his role for Trump. Most of that is due to the fact he hasn�t been able to make the changes that he�s wanted to under the president. He�s also disappointed with the internal dysfunction that has plagued Trump�s White House.

It does appear Jared is hopeful the controversy will pass. “He�s keeping his head down to focus on work and is eager to cooperate with inquiries,” reported CNN’s Jim Acosta.

The two are only renting a mansion in the Kalorama area of D.C., leaving their options open to leave at any time they choose to return to private life in New York City.
