David Greenfield Finishes Raising Funds For NYC Council Run

Supporters of David Greenfield, who is running for the Brooklyn Council seat to be vacated in 2009 by Councilman Simcha Felder, have informed the NY Daily News Blog that the first-time candidate has raised somewhere in the neighborhood of $170,000 over the past eight weeks, which, they say, maxes him out on public matching funds and enables him to stop raising money almost a full two years before the election.

That’s an impressive number for a guy who has never before run for office.

In the wake of a report that Assemblyman Dov Hikind might be considering a run for Felder’s Council seat, pitting against one former chief of staff (Greenfield) who is backed by another (Felder), Lazar, who had been assumed to have Hikind’s support in ’09, said he wouldn’t run against his good friend.

Hikinds office refused to comment to Yeshivaworld regarding his possible run for city council.
