Florida: Jewish Father R”L Killed, Wife And 2 Children Airlifted After Car Jumps Curb In Sunny Isles Beach

A Jewish man was R”L killed and his wife and two children airlifted with serious injuries after they were struck by a car at a bus stop in Sunny Isles Beach.

According to multiple reports, the incident happened at around 8:00PM Sunday evening as the family returned from Gilbert Samson Oceanfront Park. A van lost control and jumped the curb on 174th Street and Collins Avenue, striking the family.

“A total of four victims were struck by the vehicle. Unfortunately, one person is confirmed deceased on the scene,” said Sunny Isles Beach Police Sgt. Brian Schnell. “The other three were transported via air rescue to local hospitals. Their condition is unknown at this time.”

The victims were identified as 33-year-old Amir Pelleg Z”L, his wife Zulma, and their young daughters Aviva and Ariella. Amir worked as an associate legal counsel at a local real estate firm.

Sources confirm to YWN that the mother suffered a serious head injury and internal injuries, while both children have fractured femurs. All are expected to survive.

The driver of the late model Honda Odyssey, 26-year-old Joseph Franco of nearby Aventura, remained on the scene and is cooperating with police. He tested negative for alcohol. He was not immediately charged, but Miami-Dade traffic homicide detectives were continuing to investigate the incident, including whether he may have been distracted when the accident occurred.

Chesed Shel Emes was tending to the deceased victim.
