LOW TURNOUT REPORTED: Askonim Concerned In Brooklyn – Urging Last Minute To Go Vote!

The following is an urgent message from the FJCC – Please note that YWN does not endorse any candidate in any race whatsoever:

Today, Thursday September 13 is Primary Election day in New York State. There are many races that will effect our community on the ballot, none more important than re-electing State Senator Simcha Felder.

Our Yeshivas, Bais Yaakovs, and community are facing growing challenges that demand a united communal response.

Reports from traditional orthodox sectors of the Felder district show a mixed to low turnout so far (3:30 PM), whereas the more liberal left leaning areas convey a much different picture with a strong and robust turnout reported. This is a matter of the utmost urgency!

We strongly urge you to exercise your democratic right and vote now.

Do not delay, there are only a few hours left to vote, make sure your neighbors and friends vote as well. Every vote is needed.

We have much to gain and way more to lose if you do not show up to the polls today.

Members of the FJCC board will be voting for the candidates listed below. We suggest taking this list with you when you vote.

Polls will be open until 9 PM tonight.

  1. I wanted to write this as a reader submitted opinion piece but don’t know how.
Rabbosai, do you have any idea how important it is to go vote?! Yesterday a law passed that in NY when a child is born the parents are now allowed to declare it an X. They do not have to choose boy or girl. The progressives in NY are working in every way to destroy any moralistic value that might still exist in our society. They are fighting day and night to obliterate any Torah concept that has been accepted since Briyas Haolam. They will not be happy until our children will be calling day night and night day. They are passing laws that make it very difficult for frum yidden in many situations. They are trying to force us to accept ideas that we hold reprehensible as acceptable and are willing to penalize us if we don’t. THE ONLY way to have a voice against these mushchasim is to vote against them!!!!! As frum yidden we have an achrayis to vote for those who still to some extent share our values.
I know that a lot of people vote with their pocketbooks to those who will give them more programs. We are literally at a crossroads in America and if they win we all lose. Please Please Please look at the politicians platforms and go vote to save our lives!!!!

  2. I hate to say this but we have a real problem. Most of the politicians we vote for are Democrats, but most of the new voters in our community are registering as Republicans. This is why there is a low voter turnout, not because of apathy.

  3. Commonsense anyone who has morals would leave the Democratic party. There are more important issues than handouts and shady voucher backdoor deals,

  4. 1. My mother taught me over 30 years ago that although we do not agree idealistically with the democrats, NY is run by them and therefore we MUST register as Democrats so that we get a voice in the decisions. In NY the decisions are usually make in the primaries because it is overwhelmingly democrat . So if you register as a Democrat you at least have a possibility of reining in the worst of the worst behavior. If you register independent or republican you are stuck with whoever won the democratic primary. I originally registered independent but changed soon after because of this. I abhor all the choices we have, basically bad and worse, but keeping bad is crucial because worse is devastating.
