The NYPD has made one of the biggest counterfeit busts in city history Thursday night. Police raided a warehouse on Northern Boulevard in Flushing, and seized tens of thousands of shoes, clothes and handbags, CBS 2 HD reports. The multi-million dollar counterfeit goods bust came just days before the items were expected to hit the streets.
Police say they confiscated 50,000 pairs of knockoff Nike sneakers, as many as 40,000 handbags, and 5,000 pieces of clothing bearing fake labels for popular brands. Police say the phony goods likely are from China and have a street value of $4.5 million. Police told CBS 2 HD if the items were the “real things” the value would climb to $16 million. There have been no arrests in connection with the Thursday raid.

that’s such a pity, many frum people (like myself) can’t afford the real thing, now the chances of getting a nice “knockoff” have been dashed!!

How exactly are buyers of counterfeit items “stealing the parnassah of the individuals
who created the original product”?
They are simply competing. There is no problem with that. There is more than enough business to go around.
They might be stealing the designs of the original manufactuer, but certainly not the parnasah of the original manufacturer.

ymziv- you don’t need the real or the fake. It is absolutely preposterous that majority of BP walks around with logos on their shirts. If it’s real- it’s usually a waste of money. If it’s fake, it’s sheker, because you obviously want people to think it’s real, while it’s not.
