THE BARTENDER VS IVANKA: ‘Being Someone’s Daughter Actually Isn’t A Career’

Only in 2019 does a 29-year-old bartender feel qualified to question the credentials of a woman who ran a company estimated to be worth $50 million.

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is calling out Ivanka Trump after a video of the Presidential Advisor attempting to chat with world leaders at the G20 Summit in Osaka, Japan went viral.

Ocasio-Cortez, who currently represents New York’s 14th congressional district, spoke out on Twitter after a video from the summit showed Trump, 37, awkwardly trying to join in on a conversation.

“It may be shocking to some, but being someone’s daughter actually isn’t a career qualification,” Ocasio-Cortez wrote on Twitter. “It hurts our diplomatic standing when the President phones it in & the world moves on. The US needs our President working the G20. Bringing a qualified diplomat couldn’t hurt either.”

In the video, Trump is seen attempting to participate in a discussion alongside French President Emmanuel Macron, British Prime Minister Theresa May, and Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau. Also present is Christine Lagarde, Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund, who appears to disregard Trump’s attempts to join in on the conversation.

Soon after the video surfaced, Twitter commenters chimed in with responses.

“Ivanka Trump is every rich media intern whose dad plays golf with management and will eventually be your editor,” BBC journalist Parham Ghobadi wrote.

“The expression on Lagarde’s face,” wrote professor and author Daniel W. Drezner.

“The power of the side eye from Lagarde just boosted my phone battery 10%,” replied user Christy Davis.

“Why is Ivanka Trump in a discussion with Macron, May, Lagarde, and Trudeau? Two years ago she was a “fashion designer” stealing designs from other designers, and selling condos using deceptive tactics. She shouldn’t be representing the United States in any capacity,” another user chimed in.

“@IvankaTrump is so terribly embarrassing it gives me knots in my stomach. Christine Lagarde is probably one of the smartest women on the planet and is no doubt wondering why she must entertain the #LiarInChief’s shoe-counterfeiting daughter,” another user wrote.

Trump did manage to get in some speaking time at the G20, however. During her speech at the Special Event on Women’s Empowerment, Trump called on world leaders to prioritize empowering women, and even praised her father’s administration for establishing the Women’s Global Development and Prosperity initiative, the Japan Times reports.

“Every nation, including the United States, can — and should — do more,” she added.

“If we propose bold solutions and challenge the limits of the past, we’ll empower women to lift their families out of poverty, to grow the economies in their countries and to deliver greater peace and prosperity to millions around the world,” Trump told the crowd.

  1. oac; you are disgustingly stupid. When you open your trap we all know it is not your mouth but being full with written script from george soros. The proof is you can’t answer question. You spill rubbish but don’t know how your rubbish is suppose to work. You are a fraud. Keep your trap shut. Ivanka is smarter and classier than if you live for another 100 years you will never ever be. You had your calling being a bar tender. Go back to where you belong

  2. A bunch of jealous losers. When you’re the president’s daughter or wife you get to go places others cannot. I nominate AOC for yenta of the year.

  3. One good thing for AOC. She will never suffer from dementia with aging. Her intellect is too low to fall any farther. Her cognition is similarly impaired. It continues to startle me when the media bothers to report the stuff she barks.

MABA – Make Alexandria Bartend Again.

  4. And knowing how to mix drinks doesn’t mean you know how the constitution works.
Go have a shot or two of זעקס און ניינציגער, and do it each morning at 8:00, again at lunch time and again at dinner! And I’ll buy a MABA hat as soon as its available.

  5. Once upon a time politics was about disagreeing with another person on principles or viewpoint.

But this so called politician uses her status as a platform for expressing all her jealousy and hatred.

  6. Actually, considering that Jared and Ivanka are actually the ones running the country, she should be included. Considering that her mother is quite a capable person and she herself has managed to keep her father out of terminal trouble so far, there’s no reason she shouldn’t be a successful politician herself some day, once she gets to do her own thing without having to be a caregiver for her father.

  7. Where is the information that Ivanka Trump ever headed a company worth $50 million? Until the Trump family starts releasing verifiable financial statements, we cannot believe that they are worth anything other than what NBC, Deutsche Bank and Russia give them.

  8. If an elected member of congress can still be called a bartender, a non-elected spokesman for the President can be called out on nepotism.
