Hillary Clinton on Friday, brought up the assassination of Senator Robert Kennedy while defending her decision to stay in the race against Barack Obama. “My husband did not wrap up the nomination in 1992 until he won the California primary somewhere in the middle of June, right? We all remember Bobby Kennedy was assassinated in June in California. I don’t understand it,” she said, dismissing calls to drop out.
Clinton made her comments at a meeting with the Sioux Falls Argus-Leader’s editorial board while campaigning in South Dakota, where she complained that, “People have been trying to push me out of this ever since Iowa.”
Shortly after the media uproar about her comments, Clinton came to the TV cameras to make a brief statement on her remarks.
“Earlier today, I was discussing the Democratic primary history, and in the course of that discussion mentioned the campaigns that both my husband and Senator Kennedy waged in California in June in 1992 and 1968. And I was referencing those to make the point that we have had nomination, primary contests that go into June. That’s an historic fact. “
“The Kennedys have been much on my mind in the last days because of Senator Kennedy, and I regret that if my referencing that moment of trauma for our entire nation and particularly for the Kennedy family was in any way offensive. i certainly had no intention of that whatsoever.”
“My view is that we have to look to the past and to our leaders who have inspired us and give us a lot to live up to. And I’m honored to hold Senator Kennedy’s seat in the United States Senate from the state of New York, And have the highest regard for the entire Kennedy family. Thanks.”

“Freaks out” is not proper english. Perhaps “press attacks” or “press in uproar” would be a better choice.
It also sounds like the press apologized for freaking out, when in fact it was Mrs. Clinton who did the apology. All in all, a silly title.
I am no Hillary Clinton fan. That being said I really think this story fom the NY Post is much ado about nothing.
IMHO All she said was that Kennedy was still a candidate in June.
In Hillary’s mind: Give me a chance and I will show you I can win this in June.
The news media reports about my impending political death are greatly exaggerated.
I wish the press would report the negatives about Barak Hussein Obama with the same intensity that it reports about Hillary.
Watch out McCain. When the press will be finished with Hillary you will be the next korban (victim)
Mark my words. The press will bring up your old baggage. But Barak H Obama will get a free ride.
May G-d protect us
Mr. McCain rememeber that you read it first here on theyeshivaworld the attacks on your candidacy will begin as soon as Hillary is demolished.
That is why I enjoy every day that she does not throw in the towel. Hillary is giving you breathing room. But not for long. I hope you are taking notes.
who cares?
this isn’t the first time that she has slipped up when playing politics … and besides, like her or not, she is a better alternative then Obama
I hate Hillary!
BUT the people screaming are stupid!
It seems that context is irrelevant! One cannot say something with out it being taken out of context! In this case, her point was very clear; however they totally distorted it into something else.
It just shows how stupid Obama & his people are!
Ms. Clinton never apologized for embracing Ms. Arafat and proclaiming how wonderful (sic) she and her husband, Ymoch Shmam, are!
How did Hillary offend the Kennedies? I would think that she would apologize to obama – didn’t she hint that he might be assassinated by June?
not that I could care less – I’m neither pro clinton nor pro obama
(it’s basically a choice between dam & tzefardya)
