[UPDATES & PHOTO LINK BELOW]1:15PM EST: YWN has received reports that a police officer has just been shot near 16950 NE 10th Ave, which is in the heart of the Jewish community in North Miami Beach, Florida. Dozens of heavily armed SWAT teams are all over the streets, a police chopper is hovering just above the rooftops, and officers are seen walking K9 dogs. A YWN reporter on the scene reports that hundreds of police officers (from as far away from Aventura) have converged on the streets, and one report tell us that shots may have just been fired, and residents have been told to stay indoors.
The officer has reportedly been transported to the Ryder Trauma Center of Jackson Memorial Hospital – in unknown condition.

UPDATE 2:40PM EST: As of this time, officers are still arriving on the scene with various resources.
UPDATE 2:45PM EST: There are reported to be three suspects involved in this shooting. According to initial reports, one suspect has been wounded in the exchange of gunfire, and transported to a hospital. A second perp is reportedly barricaded inside an apartment complex, and a third suspect remains at large in the immediate area.
UPDATE 3:35PM EST: YWN has learned that one suspect has been shot dead, and a second suspect is now in custody. A third suspect remains at large, and a massive manhunt continues at this time.

Everyone just says i’m nuts, NMB is a amazing neighberhood, I grew up there… but there are bad surounding neighberhoods.. including the apartment complexes 169th – 163rd from like 8th ave to 15th.. not to mention 6th ave.. or otherside of 163rd street..

Today a delegation of rabbis and community leaders from NMB visited Officer David Carrero. The group was pleased to see Officer Carrero was in good spirits and to learn that he is recovering nicely. Best wishes were given to David Carrero from the entire NMB community for a speedy recovery. We are truly fortunate to have officers with the courage to protect us
