Williamsburg: Suspect Armed With Knife Arrested After Assaulting Jews On Lee Avenue [VIDEOS & PHOTOS]

A man was arrested after randomly assaulting Jews in the heart of Williamsburg’s Hasidic community.

It happened on Tuesday afternoon at 2:30PM, when the suspect punched two Hasidic men walking on Lee Avenue near Rutledge Street. No words were exchanged prior to the attack.

A crowd began chasing the suspect, and Williamsburg Shomrim arrived in seconds.

The man was apprehended at Penn Street near Marcy Avenue as the NYPD arrived, and was taken into custody.

Williamsburg Hatzolah responded to evaluate both victims. Thankfully, they were not seriously injured.

Sources tell YWN that a knife was found on the suspect’s possession when police searched him.

  1. Shomrim was on the spot. I wish other communities in New York City would seek their advice and organize their own unarmed guardians. Maybe one factor in my choice for the next mayor will be the candidate who recognizes the value of Shomrim-like civilian patrols and organizations.

  2. For all the great work Shomrim has done over the years – and continues to do -, I remember well the ‘70’s’ when Chaptzem was the way to go and woe unto the fellow who needed to find out what it is on a personal basis. Shomrim took that away and now today’s generation doesn’t seem to have the gumption it takes. חבל על דאבדין
