YW-B Garage Fire-006.jpg1:30AM EST: (VIDEO & PHOTO LINKS AT END OF ARTICLE) There is a fire reported at the Boro Park Hatzolah garage on 16th Avenue – and dozens of units along with the FDNY are responding. The fire was called in by Hatzolah members who were dispatching INSIDE the garage at the time.

UPDATE 2:00AM EST: A YWN reporter on the scene reports that there is just heavy smoke throughout the building, with no damage Boruch Hashem. YWN spoke with Boro Park Hatzolah Coordinator Mr. Boruch Gibs who said that the fire was located inside the wiring of the 20-year-old air-conditioning unit. “Boruch Hashem, there were no injuries, and there is no damage to the building”, Gibs told YWN.

Prior to the arrival of the FDNY, most of the oxygen tanks were quickly removed from the garage as a safety precaution.

The Hatzolah Dispatchers who were in the middle of their shift when smoke filled the room, quickly had the emergency lines pulled to another location, and had the building evacuated.

  1. I wonder how they performed in keeping the operations going. Consider this a fire drill. Did they pass?
The report sounds like they did.
Flatbush should have a (fake) fire drill as well to see how well they fare if operations had to shift to a new location.
