Israel – ‘Start-Up Nation’ Top of Business Tech Industry

In 2021, Israeli companies had managed to raise $25.6 billion in private investments. This surpasses 2020’s previous record of reaching $10.3 billion in funding. The numbers reveal that revenue is 146% higher primarily due to the larger amount of deals that reach over $100 million—which accounted for a 55% share or around $14 billion of the total for 2021. Hence, attributable to the increasing number of unicorns.

According to the United States Embassy in Israel, “U.S. firms have been a big part of the

Start-Up Nation story, with U.S. companies establishing two-thirds of the more than 300 foreign-invested research and development centers in Israel.  Israeli firms, meanwhile, represent the second-largest source of foreign listings on the NASDAQ after China – and more than Indian, Japanese, and South Korean firms combined.”

In the United States, Israelis now invest almost $24 billion, nearly three times the amount of what it was a decade earlier. The tech sector has seen major contributions from Israel and is transforming the region from a Startup Nation into that of a scale-up nation– founding the highest number of tech companies per capita.
