Rep. Louie Gohmert, a far-right Republican from Texas, gave a January 6 rioter a special gift: a flag that had once flown over the U.S. Capitol building. The Congressman said the gift was to “celebrate her invaluable work” and called her a “national treasure” and “American hero.”
Dr. Simone Gold, the Jan. 6 rioter gifted by the Congressman, had been locked up in prison for 60 days over her actions on that eventful day. She is also a staunch anti-vaxxer, something which Rep. Gohmert applauded her for.
In a statement, Gohmert said Gold is “a patriot and an American hero” her anti-vax activism, describing her as a “political prisoner” whose “sound medical advice was viciously attacked” by the mainstream media.
“After having her name and reputation shamefully dragged through the med, the Biden administration’s DOJ threw her in prison for peacefully walking into the U.S. Capitol on January 6 and delivering a speech,” Gohmert said in his statement.
“Dr. Gold is the definition of what a political prisoner looks like – something I never thought I’d see here in the United States of America.”

Calling Dr. Simone Gold a “rioter” is gas-lighting. An MD and JD (JD from Stanford) she was invited to speak at the January 6 protest. She did not “riot”.

This guy is one of the truly dumbest members of the congress (notwithstanding having served as a low level “judge” in Texas). He also frequently invokes white supremacists while at the same time characterizing himself as an “ohev yisroel”.
She also leads the important independent medical advisory organization: ‘America’s Frontline Doctors’ – very good and important work.
@ChaimTovim is correct. The facts (even as reported in the body of your story) do not match the title and picture which are both libelous. Whether or not there were rioters on January 6, Dr. Gold was clearly not one of them. You should change the title from “rioter” to “political prisoner” as your story explains. And you should remove the picture which clearly has nothing to do with Dr. Gold.
Dr. Gold was arrested for illegally being inside the Capital with the hordes who were looking to disrupt Congress and hang the Vice President, not for speaking at the rally.
Gohmert is known for bizarre statements and asking ridiculous questions at hearings?
More lies. Nobody was trying to hang the vice president! That’s a blood libel, just like the disgusting lie that the authorities first tried to foist on us, that the rioters had killed a policeman. They even gave him a state funeral, just like they used to do to the children whose bodies they found, and whose deaths they blamed on the Jews.
Being in the Capitol is at worst trespassing, and trespassing in the People’s House is certainly less of a crime than doing so in a store or other business that “protesters” routinely invade without any prospect of prison time.
I wish RT, “Gadol”, and “Yaacov Doe” should all suffer the same punishment that she got, because I guarantee all three of them have done far worse than she did.
