Long Island Couple Killed In Massachusetts Plane Crash

pc.jpgA small airplane crashed in the parking lot of a Massachusetts shopping plaza Tuesday morning, killing three people, including a couple from Long Island, CBS 2 reports.

The single-engine Cessna landed on an embankment separating a road from shopping plaza. The plane burst into flames.

The Federal Aviation Administration said the plane was part of Angel Flight, a network of pilots who volunteer to run medical flights at no charge to the patients.

The plane departed from West Hampton Beach in Long Island, the FAA said. It crashed at about 10:20 a.m. Tuesday at a shopping plaza near a grocery store.

Two of the people who died were a couple — and one person was coming to Boston for medical treatment, the FAA said. It is believed that the third fatality was the pilot.

Officials tell CBS 2 the plane departed from the south shore of Long Island. The unidentified couple was headed for the Dana Farber Cancer Institute in Boston.
