Boro Park JCC Community Day of Fun, Enjoyment and Education

bp shomrim.jpgThe Boro Park Jewish Community Council in conjunction with Shomrim have teamed up to announce the “Community Awareness & Safety Day” event celebrating the children and families of Boro Park at a great event of fun and excitement this Sunday September 7th between 2:00pm and 6:00pm at the Avenue Plaza Hotel parking lot. 13th Av. and 47th Street. Hundreds of children and their families are expected to flock to this great extravaganza to enjoy fun as well as educational events for both young and old.

Highlights will include a live concert by singing sensation Shmuel Ber Weber; fascinating balloon sculpting- everyone can participate and learn how to create sensational balloon figures by the outstanding Andrew Fundo, as well as an unbelievably entertaining magic show.

But that’s only the beginning! There will be FREE ice cream and ices and many other freebies. A raffle will be held with the chance to win Seforim, a Bike, or an I-Pod.

For well over a decade the Boro Park JCC has served the community with their social service and government entitlement needs. Some individuals in our community have fallen on  hard times and find it very difficult to provide for their families as they once did. Food, energy prices and rents have soared leaving once comfortable families in great economic distress. People need to know what their entitlements are and how to access them.

The BPJCC staff will be on hand to answer everyone’s questions and if eligible, make appointments for them to apply for free and low cost medical insurance and food stamps in the privacy of the BPJJC offices. In addition they will answer questions on immigration problems, job development and writing resumes, provide information regarding applications for emergency financial help for families in crises, fill out applications for free life insurance, a must for young families, electric and gas shut off notices, children and teens at risk, senior benefits and entitlements, social security entitlements, medical specialists and hospital referrals, and holocaust survivors programs. Presenters from various other community and social service organizations will be available to talk about other interesting and relevant topics.

This event promises to be full of fun and information as the community comes out to celebrate their children and families at the Boro Park JCC “Community Awareness & Safety Day” event Sunday September 7th between 2:00pm and 6:00pm at the Avenue Plaza Hotel parking lot. 13th Av. and 47th Street.
