Application Process Opens For Williamsburg Affordable Apts


Williamsburg, NY – The application process for 346 affordable rental apartments being constructed has now opened, according to Vincent Abate, chair of Community Board 1.

The apartments are being constructed at 34 North Sixth St. and 27 North Sixth St. in the Northside section of Williamsburg. They are being constructed under the Inclusionary Housing Program and the Participation Loan Program of the city’s Department of Housing Preservation and Development and the New Housing Opportunity Program of the New York City Housing Development Corp.

There are 77 studios available at a monthly rent of $886, for people with an income range of $37,370 to $43,000; 95 one-bedroom apartment available at a rent of $995 for people within an income range of $41,919 to $49,150; and 174 two-bedroom apartments at a rent of $1,198 for people whose income falls within a range of $50,287 and $61,450.

Applications may be downloaded by clicking HERE. Those who submit more than one application will be disqualified. People who have lived within Community Board 1 (Greenpoint and Williamsburg) since Oct. 4, 2004 or beforehand will receive preference for 50 percent of the units.

Esposito of Community Board 1 said, “The process for selecting applications is being conducted via a lottery under the auspices of the New York City Department of Housing Preservation and Development. Like any lottery, you have to be in it to win it.”
