H’YD: Rabbi Eli Schlanger Murdered In Sydney Terror Attack

Chabad shliach Rabbi Eli Schlanger, H’yd, was one of those murdered Al Kiddush Hashem in the terror attack at Bondi Beach in Sydney on Sunday.

Rabbi Schlanger and his wife, Chaya, have been serving as shlichim to Bondi Beach for 18 years, working under Sydney Chabad shliach, Rabbi Yehoram Ulman.

His friends told Kikar H’Shabbat. “He was the first to act regarding every dever she’bikedusha out of real mesirus nefesh.”

Rabbi Eli Schlanger, H’yd at the bris of his son just a few weeks ago.

The public is asked to recite Tehillim and give tzedaka for those wounded in the attack, including other Chabad shlichim and their families.

One of those wounded, Yaakov Dov ben Penina, was a Hatzolah volunteer who was shot while responding to the terror attack.

It should be noted that several weeks ago, Rabbi Eli, H’yd, held a special memorial evening for the shlichim who were murdered in Mumbai, India, Rabbi Gavriel and Rivki Holtzberg, H’yd, and Rabbi Zvi Kogan, H’yd, who was murdered in the United Arab Emirates.
