YW-NJ Agud Pres Forum-001.jpg(PHOTO LINKS AT END OF ARTICLE) With Election Day around the corner, Agudath Israel of New Jersey partnered with the Central Jersey Jewish Public Affairs Committee (CJJPAC) to host a Presidential Forum.  New Jersey Governor Jon S. Corzine represented Senator Barack Obama and New Jersey State Assemblyman and Republican Whip Jon Bramnick represented Senator John McCain.  Rabbi Chaim Dovid Zwiebel, Executive Vice President of Government and Public Affairs of Agudath Israel moderated the event.

Hundreds of people attended to hear presentations from Governor Corzine and Assemblyman Bramnick on issues that ranged from education and the economy to Israel and homeland security.  Josh Pruzansky, Director of Agudath Israel of New Jersey, noted, “Along with the exponential growth of the Orthodox community in New Jersey comes the increased responsibility to perform our civic duties of learning about the issues and heading to the polls on Election Day as knowledgeable voters.  This was an opportunity for the members of our community to hear from both sides about the critical issues at stake in this election.”

Pruzansky also expressed his appreciation of the event’s partners, Dr. Marc Hanfling, Chairman of CJJPAC, and Rabbi Yaakov Luban and President Allen Kessel of Congregration Ohr Torah where the event was held.

  1. Kudos to Rabbi Luban for allowing this event for taking place in his shul. I understand he insisted it take place in the social hall and not in the sanctuary. Kol Hakavod.
