WATCH: British PM Starmer Booed in Golders Green as He Pledges Fight Against Antisemitism

Hatzola and Shomrim NW London participated in a COBRA emergency meeting with UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer following yesterday’s terror attack targeting Jews in Golders Green.

British Prime Minister Keir Starmer faced angry protesters Thursday while visiting London’s heavily Jewish Golders Green neighborhood after a stabbing attack on two Jewish men, with crowds chanting “Keir Starmer, Jew Harmer” as he arrived.

Starmer vowed to address “the root causes of extremism and antisemitism,” calling the issue one that affects “everyone in this country.” The government announced £25 million in additional security funding for the Jewish community.

The attack on Wednesday left Shloime Rand, 34, and Moshe Shine, 76, hospitalized in stable condition. A 45-year-old suspect with a history of violence was arrested after Shomrim volunteers subdued him before police arrived. The incident has been declared a terrorist attack.

The stabbing is the latest in a sharp rise of antisemitic incidents across Britain. Shuls have faced multiple arson attacks, and four Hatzalah ambulances were destroyed in a fire weeks ago. In 2025, the UK recorded 3,700 antisemitic hate incidents—the second-highest on record.

Chief Rabbi Ephraim Mirvis said condemnation is no longer enough. “This must be a moment that demands meaningful action from every institution, every community, every leader.”

Lord John Mann, the government’s antisemitism adviser, warned British Jews feel at a “breaking point” and many may leave Britain if conditions don’t improve.

  1. @rebEmes it may not be the most appropriate or effective response but it is the first time that British Jews have ever voiced this level of disapproval at any dignitary or head of state. It might make the Govt realise how upset/angry people actually are.

  2. He claims the debate about what’s going on in the Middle-East [read condemning Israel’s actions] should not affect Jews in the UK, but that’s precisely what it’s doing: His constant criticizem of Israel’s war to defend itself and allowing weekly anti-semitem marches in London with “Genocide” placards are the perfect recipe for terror attacks.
Whatever happens to the Jewish community; he will never give up his right to attack Israel and the democratic right to protest against it. – this is what they are protesting about!
