Caleb Snyder — the YouTuber and social media commentator who traveled to Lakewood recently to show viewers a side of the town that another YouTuber, anti-Semite Tyler Oliveira, chose not to highlight — has released his latest video documenting his visit to Kiryas Joel after first publishing his widely praised coverage of Lakewood.
Snyder first gained attention after releasing a video featuring his interactions with both Jewish and non-Jewish residents throughout Lakewood. His experience painted a dramatically different picture from the anti-Semitic narrative presented by Oliveira.
While Oliveira’s controversial video selectively edited out encounters and important context that would have offered viewers a more complete understanding of the community, Snyder’s footage showcased a far more accurate portrayal of Kiryas Joel— one far removed from the caricature of a racist or “anti-goy” enclave that Oliveira attempted to portray.
Snyder has once again allows residents to speak for themselves while giving viewers an authentic look at daily life in one of the country’s largest Chassidic communities.
The new video highlights the community’s values, strong family life, and welcoming atmosphere, standing in sharp contrast to the sensationalized narratives often promoted by critics of Orthodox Jewish communities.

antisemitism doesn’t need facts, or even jews. it thrives on envy and grievance, often continents away from the nearest jew. the most we can do is engage with our non-jewish neighbours, and show them that we don’t have horns.
You have to watch some of Tyler’s videos about other communities to understand why he is an anti-semite. In those videos, he presents things more straightforwardly. But when it comes to his videos about Jewish communities, he clearly came in with preconceived ideas and then shaped the narrative to match them — shooting the arrow and drawing the bullseye afterward.
He even went so far as to suggest that having large families while receiving government assistance is somehow illegal, and he presented that to his viewers as fact.
The only problem is that Tyler has millions of followers and this guy only has a few thousand.
Very nice. But his few thousand views aren’t going to make a difference in the damage done from Tyler’s 4 million views
Kiryas Yoel/Joel is G-D’s very Ultra Orthodox Yiddishe community. I am Chabad Lubavitch and recently as reported by Yeshiva World News Kiryas Yoel’s Rebbe Shlita Aharon Teitelbaum invited Emissaries from Crown Heights Brooklyn Chabad Lubavitch NY to visit with him and his staff. It was gemutlichkeit and heimishe and there were photographic opportunities that were taken advantage of especially I remember one picture shown with an exchange of Seforim between the two groups. I am heavily gratified that H”M in H-s great wisdom has seen fit to unite these Brotherhood’s of Torah Yiddishekeit. These two groups are Giants in Torah Law and as such H”M wants the Yiddishe Neshamah’s of both to cement their undying love for H”M publicly.
If we would have communicated with him and not sent out a million WhatsApp messages and acted like an insufferable clique the outcome may have been slightly different.
We reap what we sow. And you can blame him all we want but it’s also our own behavior that lead to the outcome sorry not sorry
