Acting on intelligence information, IDF forces worked together with Shin Bet agents and police, preventing a planned terror attack in the Betar Illit area on Sunday morning.
Security forces were out in number on Sunday morning and the Shechem resident, who headed out for the Gush Etzion area on Sunday morning, was apprehended about 2 km (1.2 miles) from Betar Illit, preventing an attack. Security officials report the terrorist was on his way to rendezvous with other terrorists towards carrying out an attack.
The community’s security officer received notification at about 7:00AM Sunday morning to be on the alert for an orange Volkswagen making its way towards Betar. Schools were instructed to keep students in classrooms. A helicopter was hovering overhead as well.
At about 10:00AM, the terrorist was apprehended between Betar Illit and Tzur Hadassah. He was taken into Shin Bet custody.
