Lachman Backs Out Of race For Felder’s Seat; Former Felder Staffer Joins Team Greenfield

Brooklyn, NY – Former Sen. Seymour Lachman has decided not to join the fray in the 44th Council District. He made this statement during a brief interview with Elizabeth Benjamin of the NY Daily News Politics Blog this afternoon.

Lachman, who floated his name just three weeks ago, said he will be sending out an e-mail tomorrow morning that explains “personal and familiar reasons” prevent him from entering the race for former Councilman Simcha Felder’s Brooklyn seat.

“It does not mean that in the future I will not consider running for public office; I will consider things that come up, as they come up, in the next year or two,” Lachman said. “Nothing is excluded from consideration.”

“Politics, as you know, is a very unusual and strange venture. Anything can happen. Maybe nothing will happen. At this time, I’m bowing to my wife’s wishes.”

Meanwhile, New York City Council candidate David Greenfield has announced that Eric Kuo will join his campaign team as a senior advisor. Eric previously worked as Communications and Legislative Director for former Councilman Simcha Felder, who recently left the Council to join Comptroller John Liu’s office. Additionally, Eric spent time working on Felder’s unsuccessful State Senate campaign.

“I am excited to have Eric join my team. His experience will help me get my message of making New York more affordable out to the voters in the district,” said Greenfield.

“I look forward to helping David Greenfield become next Council Member in the 44th District. David has been an effective fighter for the community and knows how to get results,” said Kuo. “He is the best candidate to succeed Simcha Felder and will be a valuable addition to the New York City Council.”

Eric will be assisting with communications and policy issues.

  1. What a misleading headline!!

Come on, no one was supposed to think that Lachman was backing Greenfield, right?

But what do you explect from the Greenfield flacks at YWN…

If he wins, you can take credit for the “bechiyah ledoros.”

  2. The shmuz in boro park (shomer shabas and the mikva) is that there is strong momentum for Greenfield and Lachman did not want to enter a tough race.

The Oilam is ecstatic that finally there is someone to take on the Hikind machine. A politician has to be someone who is here to serve us people not his own interests (or the machine’s, or Dov Hikind’s.)

The person behind Lazar is Hikind.

HIKIND HAS PRESSURED THE AGUDA THAT UNLESS THEY GET THE YESHIVOS TO BACK HIS CANDIDATE, HE WILL NOT DELIVER ONE MORE PENNY TO THEM. THIS AFTER HIM REPEATEDLY BEING MEVAZE THE GEDOLIM AND THE AGUDA ON HIS RADIO SHOW WITH RESPECT TO THE MARKEY BILL AND HIS INFLATED CLAIMS OF MOLESTATION.

Hikind claims that Joe Lazar has brought MILLIONS into the community “mosdos” over the past years. Why can’t the yeshivos make payroll?

SHOW US THE MONEY, in whose pocket did it go?

Does Hikind mean Ohel? Speak to Asher Lipner about Ohel. He used to work at Ohel.

Read Hamodia Magazine regarding record Poverty in Boro Park!

Ask Tomchei Shabas regarding record Poverty in Boro Park.

Ask Masbia regarding record Poverty in Boro Park!

We still have the KIDs @ Risk despite the millions that Dov claims to have received from Albany. In whose pocket did the money go?

Ask Asher Lipner, why he no longer appears on the Dov Hikind Show and no longer works for OHEL.

Dov, your gig is up. Time for change with proven results. DAVID CAN SHOW US THE MONEY, DOV CAN YOU?

By the way, Dov who pays for all those trips to Israel??

AND WHY DO YOU HAVE MILLIONS IN YOUR CAMPAIGN WAR CHEST THAT YOU TAKE WITH YOU WHEN YOU LEAVB OFFICE. YOU HAVEN’T HAD AN OPPONENT IN YEARS. WHY DO YOU HAVE FUNDRAISERS FOR “CAMPAIGNS”???

  3. #1 come on be honest what is bad from the headline? YWN is giving us an update of what is going on the Greenfield campaign & with the election and I don’t see what the issue is in creating one article out of it.

  4. David Greenfield is a heimishe lawyer who has already compiled an impressive list of accomplishments that have benefited the ‘heimishe oilem’, including securing Tuition Assistance programs for families that struggle to pay for their children’s education, while also successfully lobbying for the reinstatement of many of the school vouchers that were suspended the last couple of years. All that and he’s only in his 20s…

Mayor Mike Bloomberg has already tabbed March 23rd as the day special elections will be held to elect Felder’s successor.

Dov Hikind has seized this opportunity to further cement his choke hold over Boro Park, and has manipulated the Moisdos into backing the puppet that he has implanted in the race. Hikind has gone on the record as saying that “everybody’s goal is to be united against” candidate David G. Greenfield. Hikind has pulled out all the stops in his attempt to box out Greenfield — Hikind’s former chief of staff — and for legitimate reason: Greenfield poses the greatest threat to Hikind’s sovereignty over Boro Park; Greenfield is an independent thinker who won’t fall for Hikind’s ‘shtick’, and won’t be manipulated..

But it won’t work, Mr. Hikind. The era in which you were the King — or dare I say, despot? — of Boro Park politics has come to a close.

Morai V’Raboisai, say NO to political manipulation and power-brokering in Boro Park.
Vote for David G. Greenfield for City Council on March 23rd.

  5. Lachman doesn’t have to run. He just wanted Hikind out (read his book) If Greenfield is going to do the job, he doesn’t have to run. He will be endorsing Greenfield.

  6. Raboiai,
Now is the time to think. Use your head. We have an opportunity to make a Kiddush Hashem. Vote for a very successful lawyer. A talmid chochom a true ben Toira. Vote for REB NACHMAN CALLER.

    Hoshivo shoiftainu kevorishoina…

  7. ywn were is the “press released by Greenfield team”? is it boro park asken? or is this Mr. Greenfield? whoever it is it seems to me that you keep posting the same thing about hikind, what happened did he not give you attention? o and to anyone else who is “kliin kepig” and won’t vote for Lazar because of hikind is like not taking your kid for stitches because he ran and fell when you warned him, if lazar is good for bp it doesn’t make a difference who is endorsing him. and btw BPA if you only did 1% of what Dov does for our community or if C’V Dov does 1% less then what he does now we will all feel it! DOV KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK!

  8. ASAKAN —
No one has to pressure anyone to back Lazar, they know what Greenfield is all about.

They know that we and our children will be paying the price for 4 years — if he doesn’t do lasting damage — if Greenfield is elected.

The knuckleheads know he has “a gitte tzing” and YWN had made him their mascot.

But real askanim know the damage he did in Albany, they know he’s arrogant and vindictive, they know he’s immature and inexperienced.

  9. Greenfield is an experienced attorney with a successful history of community advocacay AND IS ABLE TO SHOW US THE MONEY THAT HE BROUGHT BACK TO THE PEOPLE OF THE COMMUNITY. IT DID NOT GO TO HIS POCKET OR “FUNNELED TO HIS FRIENDS AND ORGANIZATIONS” WHO IN TURN MAKE “POLITICAL CONTRIBUTIONS” TO HIS “CAMPAIGN”.

David will do a great job for the PEOPLE OF HIS DISTRICT that he represents. He understands that he is paid by the taxpayers to be a spokesman of his constituents, not to be a PR person for the settlers in eretz yisrael.

He possesses extraordinary character and ethics and has never had to defend himself in federal court regarding questionable “kickbacks”.

David has a PROVEN record of delivering for the PEOPLE OF THE COMMUNITY, and he will be a welome CHANGE AS SPOKESMAN AND REPRESENTATIVE of the people in Midwood, Bensonhurst and Boro Park.

David will continue to work collaboratively with the other politicians to improve the quality of life for all New Yorkers.”

Greenfield has received widespread support from prominent members of EVERY ethnic community in the diverse 44th Council District, including the Catholic, Ashkenaz, Sephardic, and Hasidic communities.

THE DAYS OF DOV HIKIND AS DICTATOR ARE NUMBERED.

    BARUCH HASHEM!!

THEN DOV CAN RETIRE TO YESHA AND HAVE THEM RETAIN HIM AS THEIR PR PERSON.
