Weprin Responds To Turner’s Wall Street Story

Shortly after YWN published the last story – which says that Weprin gave himself a raise while making $100,000, we recieved the following response from the Weprin campaign:

“Bob Turner’s getting so desperate he’ll make up any excuse to distract voters from his plan to end Medicare as we know it and privatize Social Security. Bob Turner holds over $200,000 in stocks in companies that received money from the TARP bailout. If he wants to talk about Wall Street, maybe he can explain to voters why he supports policies that would protect banks that got bailout money rather than Medicare and Social Security.”

  1. This answer by Weprin does not explain anything.

Did he rip off the taxpayers, or didn’t he?

To accuse Turner of being a bad guy, because he has investments is ridiculous. Turner didn’t steal the money. He earned it.

And…he didn’t rip off the taxpayers.

  2. mechilas Kovidcha Mr Weprin but the 2 are not alike at all – Firstly – who said turner supports tarp – He most likely does not – and number 2 – he owned the stock before tarp –

  3. With all due respect to MR. Weprin he must realize that his response is just a little pathetic.
Mr. Tirner was not in elected office at the time he did not approve TARP. Furthermore he is running as a Conservative Republican a group that opposes TARP, The Stimulus, as well as QE1 QE2 and if there will be a QE3 that as well.
Mr. Weprin is running to represent a party that is all for interventionist economic policies (even though they have never been successful)which is TARP exactly.

  4. If I lived in the 9th congressional district I would ask Mr. Weprin why he wants to represent the district if he does not and never has lived in its boundaries.

That he voted himself a raise, let’s be real, anyone who had the ability to do so, would vote themself a raise.

  5. David Weprin talks about privatizing social security and fixing medicare as if that were a bad thing. This couldn’t be further from the truth! These entitlement programs are unsustainable and they must be fixed ASAP! Wow, Mr Weprin, you must have hired some democratic party hacks if you are spouting the party lines like that.

  6. Typical politician, don’t anser the question, just complain about the “desperation” of the opponent. Also, last I checked it was the WSJ that ran the story. As far as I know, Turner does not own WSJ.
I think Weprin himself is probably a good guy, but I support Turner just to spite Sheldon Silver whose betrayal I’m sick of.
