Hiss: Some Autopsies Will Still be Necessary

While not at all surprising, it did not take long for Israel’s chief medical examiner, Professor Yehuda Hiss, to release an official statement following the ceremony launching Israel’s newest MRI, which will permit virtual autopsies.

Hiss was interviewed by Israel Radio on Tuesday, stating that some autopsies will be required despite the advanced MRI and its virtual autopsy abilities.

Hiss has always done his utmost to order an autopsy when possible, having openly defied police and bereaved families, not to mention Halacha.

Deputy Health Minister Yaakov Litzman applauded the new reality, thanking Zaka for its efforts over recent years towards raising funds for the unit, which Litzman announced brings an end to the era of autopsies in Eretz Yisrael.

  1. How can you sell body parts removed during an autopsy if you don’t cut open the body?
What about all the backorders for kidneys and livers?
