OU Condemns Attacks By Israelis On IDF Base & Soldiers

Today, the Union of Orthodox Jewish Congregations of America, condemned a reported attack by scores of Israeli youths on an Israel Defense Forces base in Samaria, Israel in which army vehicles were damaged and Israeli soldiers were injured.  The following statement was issued by the leadership of the “Orthodox Union”:

The leadership of the Orthodox Union condemns the actions of Jewish criminals who perpetrated an attack upon Israeli Defense Force soldiers and property.  There is no justification for such heinous acts.

Such actions undermine the security of Israel and the unity of Israeli society which itself is essential to that security.

We commend Prime Minister Netanyahu for taking decisive action to thwart these criminal activities and to bring the perpetrators to justice.  We call upon leaders of all segments of Israel and the Jewish community to conduct debates over policy through the political process and in a civil manner befitting Jewish values.

In issuing this statement, the Orthodox Union joined leaders across the spectrum of Israeli leadership who have also condemned the attack including Defense Minister Barak, IDF Chief of Staff Benny Gantz, MKs Danny Danon and Yakov Katz, and Yesha leaders Danny Dayan and Pinchas Wallerstein.

  1. While in theory, I would agree with the OU’s statement, I’m not so sure it sure have been issued when similar statements of condemnation were NOT issued AGAINST the Israeli police and the IDF, when THEY have attacked peaceful Jewish families IN THE MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT, pulled men, women, and little children from their beds, and bulldozed their homes!!!
And even to those who may say that these homes may have been built without authorization, the methods that were used may have been suitable for the KGB or the SS, but are most definitely NOT suitable for Jewish forces against Jewish families.
If the horrific scenes of destruction of Jewish homes, and crying young mothers and children caused by the orders of the Defense Ministry are not going to be condemned by the OU, perhaps they should stay out of this issue completely.
