Krauthammer: Israel ‘Will Strike’ Iran To ‘Prevent A Second Holocaust’

On Friday’s “Special Report” on the Fox News Channel, Washington Post columnist Charles Krauthammer doubled down on an assertion he made last week about the inevitability of an Israeli strike on Iran to limit the Islamic republic’s nuclear capabilities.

Krauthammer referred to a Washington Post column in which David Ignatius indicated, generally, when Defense Secretary Leon Panetta thought such an attack might happen.

“Our own secretary of Defense has said it’s highly likely and he gave a timeframe — April, May, June — which means the Israelis think that the moment, the zone of immunity where they can no longer attack successfully, is approaching,” Krauthammer said.

“I think he is right. I think the Israelis are serious unless happens between now and midyear or even November that will threaten the regime, because it won’t change the policy. I think Israel will strike because it cannot live under the threat of annihilation from Iran.”

Krauthammer also had some strong words about why he thought an attack was likely.

“Unless something intervenes,” Krauthammer replied. “I cannot imagine the Israelis are going to allow Iran to go nuclear and to hold the Damocles sword over 6 million Jews all over again. Israel was established to prevent a second Holocaust, not to invite one.”

  1. The problem with Krauthammer’s analysis is that it is full of holes. He knows perfectly well that the State of Israel has no capacity to significantly affect the Iranian nuclear energy program. Ask Meir Dagan, the former head of the Mossad if you don’t believe me. So what does this little propaganda comment by Krauthammer have to do with anything in the real world? Besides the Zionist regime has 230 nuclear warheads and will bring World War Three. Is that good for 6 million Jews? Or the 35,000 Jews in Iran?

  2. Krauthammer?

Does he even speak Hebrew or read the Israeli press. Is he likely to have inside knowledge?

This isn’t to say he’s wrong, only that he is unlikely to have any inside knowledge.

The Israelis are in a similar situation to the Japanese before Pearl Harbor. They need to strike but unless the strike effectively cripples their enemy, it will ultimately leave them worse off. Israel is outnumber over 100-1 by the Muslims, who already have substantial human and material resources that Israel can’t hope to match, and already have a nuclear bomb that has been tested. Unless Israel can permanently cripple the Muslim world, any meanignful attack on Iran will be futile in the long run.

  3. Just because the poster calls himself “nicejew’ doesn’t mean he is..nice or even jewish…Krauthammer is aboslutely right and the Israelis have a great capacity to affect the iranian nuclear program…bombs do have an immediate effect upon the places where they land…World War three would be a lot closer if Iran gets the bomb…just ask the Saudis, the Kuwaitis and other Arabs who will be the first in the line oc fire….

  4. #1-

It probably would take only a few dozen nukes to wipe out Iran, especially if enhanced with biochemical weapons (e.g. seed vaccine-resistant diseases and blame it on the radiation). The same amount would probably be necessary to take out Pakistan, which has apparently offered to help Iran if attacked. Knocking out the rest of the Islamic world would be difficult but not impossible using ISBMs (and anyone who can launch a satellite can bring it down anywhere)or short range missles launched from submarines.

World War III – hardly. It would only involve Israel and the Muslim countries. Except for a temporary disruption in oil supplies, most of the world won’t be too upset. Once the Israelis start engaging in genoicde, the Europeans will figure they don’t have to feel so guilty about their own record in the matter.

Whether Israel can launch such an attack and avoid retaliation is another matter. Under a half dozen nukes would largely destroy the Israeli economy to a point they couldn’t resist a full scale conventional assault by the combined Islamic armies – and once Israel goes nuclear they can probably forget on outside support, even from the USA.

So it does turn out, that those interested in Jewish survival are the ones sitting and learning. Relying on the zechus of the soldiers and politicians is truely being reliant on a miracle taking place, since left to them, a miracle would be what is needed.

  5. Why do such “Frummelach” show themselves to be so bloodthirsty and warlike? Why are they such armchair warriors trying to tell others how to lose their lives while they sit comfortably watching the news from a distance while the world burns?
    Are they nuts????

  6. #6- Yes, the zionists are nuts. That is what the gedolim told Herzl. Desiring to rule over the goyim will only lead to an impossible situation. THe desire for political power only is a diversion from Torah and Mitsvos, and it is Torah and Mitsvos which preserve Klal Yisrael, and according to some, keep the world from diverting to “Toho v’Voho”.

  7. NiceJew…

What makes you think that Meir Dagan’s opinion is THE correct opinion? Other former top defense people in Israel say exactly the opposite. Personally, I think that Israel is intentionally have their people give out all these opposing opinions to keep everyone guessing about what they will do.

Israel will never use it’s nuclear option for anything less than a very clear existential threat. They have already proved this in the Yom Kippur War, when the threat did ALMOST, but not quite, reach that level, and they kept their finger off the button.

BTW… Do you think Achmadinajerk is worried at all about the hundreds of thousands (if not millions) of moslems that would be killed if he would, chalila, nuke Israel??? He could not care less.

AND… Advocating a pre-emptive attack is NOT due to being “bloodthirsty and warlike”, it is due to wanting to keep the six million Jews in Israel alive. I’m sure you’ve learned… הבא להרגך השכם להרגו
