Fire At Viznits Yeshiva In Kiamisha, NY [UPDATED 10:50PM EST]


7:35PM ET: The Monticello fire Department is currently on the scene of a working structure fire at the Viznits Yeshiva.

The fire started around 7:15PM, and is reported to be in the main building at the Yeshiva campus, which is at the former Gibbers Hotel, on Gibbers Road in Kiamisha.

As of this time a 3rd Alarm has been called due to heavy fire conditions, with mutual aid assistance from Fallsburg, Liberty, Rock Hill, Hurlyville, and other areas.

There are no injuries being reported, and the extent of the damage is not known at this time.

UPDATE 10:50PM EST: The fire is still not under control, with heavy fire conditions reported. It is now a 5th Alarm Fire, with mutual aid assistance from as far away as Orange County.

  1. As of a few minutes ago Sullivan County fire dispatch is asking for all available interior firefighters to respond and it’s up to 4 alarms.

  2. The dorm burned down, unfortunately. But BH the bachurim were all in Monsey being menachem avel the Rebbe who is sitting shiva for his brother ztl, so no one was hurt BH
