Police Arrest a Son of Senior Peleg Yerushalmi Personality

Over one-hundred protestors affiliated with the Peleg Yerushalmi were arrested on erev Shabbos as they protested the arrest one of their colleagues by military authorities. Police announced they would exhibit zero tolerance to any and all efforts to disrupt the marathon.

A number of buses carrying chareidim were stopped heading to the area in Jerusalem as a preemptive police measure. Some protestors, albeit in vein, attempted to disrupt the Jerusalem marathon. Over one-hundred detainees were released following the marathon but nine persons were held over and will be remanded this morning, Sunday 21 Adar. Among the nine is a son of senior Peleg Yerushalmi official Rav Yosef Petrov. The son has been handed over to military authorities after it was learned that he failed to register for the draft and is wanted by military police.

Peleg officials responding to the arrest explain “If they think this will test our determination and endurance they are mistaken. The fight will continue”. Hence, protests can be expected around the country this week as well.

  1. Keep them in jail for a week or two with only Rabbanut food. That will cure them. Rav Auerbach zt”l must be spinning in his grave from what is son is doing.

  2. כאשר יענו אותו כן ירבו וכן יפרוץ
Interesting, the more they try to subdue Peleg the more people join their ranks, send their children to their yeshivos and chedorim and are proud to be part of this truthful people with the right shita and strong leadership.

  3. takahmamash:I am not concerned about the Gadol Hador R’ Shlomo Zalman Zt” nor about his son Maran Hagaon Harav Shmuel Shlit”a with their tremendous Zchus Hatorah -it is you who will spin in your grave for slandering Geolei Hador .

  4. The message that is being sent to the public is wrong. The message so far is: “End the draft for us” This is a serious mistake. The message that will win this confrontation is: “End the draft for everyone.” There is a large segment of the (non-religious, non-hareidi) population that supports the idea of a professional army and are in favor of ending the draft. They, however, rightly, resent the idea that the draft should be selectively applied.

  5. #6, he’s not emulating his father, for one thing. His father zt”l went out of his way to avoid machloket and chillul Hashem.
