UNESCO Marks Israel Independence Day With Another Historically Distorted Anti-Semitic Vote

UNESCO on Tuesday, the day Israel marked its 69th Independence Day, once again passed a historically distorted decision, this one denying Israel’s claims to Yerushalayim. UNESCO, which has become a spokesperson for the enemies of Israel and the Jewish People, have passed similar resolutions in the past, which also deny Israel’s claims to Jerusalem, Har Habayis and the Kosel.

The latest resolution was submitted by Algeria, Egypt, Lebanon, Morocco, Oman, Qatar and Sudan, a resolution addressing “Occupied Palestine”. The vote passed with 22 in favor and 10 opposed with 23 abstentions.

The countries that opposed the resolution are Germany, Greece, Italy, Lithuania,

Netherlands, Paraguay, Togo, UK, Ukraine, and the United States.

Condemnatory messages were issued by US and Israeli officials, but the real question remains is when legitimate democratic nations like Israel and the US, will make the decision to break away from the UN and is associated agencies, which by and large to not serve the interests of Western democratic nations, but has instead become a forum for Islamic radicalism and its associates.

If the US, EU nations and Israel leave, this would be sufficient to delegitimize the international agency. The funds could be used far better in many other areas and the headquarters on NYC’s 42nd Street is a valuable piece of property. Leaving the UN would leave the Islamic bloc without a legitimate vehicle to operate as they do in the international forum, albeit against the United States and her allies.

  1. This reminds me of a very perceptive remark by HaRav Avraham Yaakov HaKohen Pam ZT”L, Rosh Yeshiva of Torah Vodaas:

According to CHAZAL, when Mashiach arrives, the Umos HaOlam will claim that they were always helpful to Jews. The recorded proceedings of the U.N. will prove otherwise.
