Shavu Banim Planning Major Gathering in Ramat Gan – Profits To Be Used To Fly Jews To Uman For Rosh Hashanah

HaRav Eliezer Berland Shlita is planning a major gathering in Winter Stadium in Ramat Gan, a facility that hold 8,000 seats. He is optimistic that he will fill the stadium to capacity. Tickets will sell for 100 NIS with the exception of the 500 seats in the lower rows, which will be sold for 500 NIS each. Rav Berland adds profits will be used exclusively to fly Jews to Uman for Rosh Hashanah.

The rav’s Shavu Banim organization is hosting the event, being billed as the first of many, hoping to reach out to yidden of all walks of life.

Organizers say: “This is only the beginning. Soon there will be a gathering of 20,000, then 100,000 and then a million, until the entire world realizes אין עוד מלבדו כי and the moment the world realizes the greatness of Our Creator, then we can build the Beis HaMikdosh and there will be תחיית המתים.”

Organizers announce the second gathering will be held close to Rosh Hashanah in a facility that accommodates 20,000. Both will be a Kinnus Hisorarus and the latter will focus on preparing participants for Rosh Hashanah and traveling to Rav Nachman’s tziyon in Uman.

  1. Great Idea !! Instead of raising money for poor families to celebrate Yom Tov, let’s raise money to send the husbands to the Ukraine and leave the wives and children behind to celebrate Yom Tov alone. That ought to bring lots of people closer to HaShem and Torah!!

  2. #1 Praying at the graves of tzaddikim DOES bring people closer to HaShem and Torah, the principle is enshrined in shas. Also, you can bring the kids to Uman, no harm in that at all.

  3. #3:

Ha Mi’bli ein kivrei tzadikim b’eretz yisroel???? WHy do we have to raise thousands of $$ to send people from Israel to Ukraine to go to a tzadik’s kever??

Also, what about the wives? What are they supposed to do for Yom Tov?

  4. @ yussel first of all if you have an opinion share it, don’t be sarcastic and make layztanus!
Of course rosh hashana is a very important time, but it is not a family yom tov. the men that are going, are going with the permission and blessing of their wives to pray for a good year for all of them. why rebbe nachman? why uman?
Tzadik. Outside of the chasidic circles some might ask what is a tzadik? some might answer, “a righteous person” “a saintly individual”. yet this still doesn’t explain how not only life long chasidim but jews from all backrounds come to a place like uman to be with the rebbe for rosh ahshana.
In 1768 42 years before the rebbes petirah, uman was under polish rule.with the advancements of the rebellious haidemacks, thousands upon thousands of jews fled there for safety. when the haidemacks arrived at the gates the governer refused to let them in. fearing attack he agreed to let them in, but they must spare all the gentiles. they set up a cross in the town square and made each person choose. without exception 33,000 jews refused and were mikkadesh shem shamayim they were then slain and buried there. when rebbe nachman passed through the town many years later he said how beautiful would it be to be buried among 33,000 kadosh tzadikim. after his petirah he was buried there. baruch hashem i was zoche to go to uman and will iyh be going this year again and forever the power of a tzadikk is unfathomable for the rebbe to be meylitz yosher on your behalf there’s no telling as to where you can rise. and for all those who are skeptical r moshe halbershtam the chaver bais din of the edey hachradis said when he was confronted about this issue said the hisorrirus that there is in uman on rosh hashana can not be found anywhere else in the world. the chofetz chaim said when he was asked about the chaside breslov said that anyone who wishes to become closer to hashem should come close to the breslov chasidm because they are careful of the shulchan aruch and they put that first the rebbe from yemen harav chaim svani said that al those who are misnagdim and put down rebbe nachman or his teachings are being kofer the gemarah zohar and the ari so dont be a hater if you dont agree with something, thats your choice, but there is so much hate out there, why must you make laytzanius of something hundreds of thousand sof pepole find important. there are no words to describe the feeling of singing vitaher libaynu with 50,000 other jews of all backrounds baruch shezacisi!!

  5. There are probably more impt charitable needs starting with medical, parnassa, schooling for special needs and activities for all-aged children. Or perhaps bring the kever of the REBBE to Israel instead of going to backwards Ukraine.

  6. Where did Rabbi Nachman say that you need to come “EVERY year,” as far as I know he only said you need to come once?

  7. every year the experience just gets better a
nd he said to be by him for rosh hashana is so important and we get judged every year right?

  8. There’s always another cause. Unless you’re a chosid its very difficult to understand the power and importance of Uman. Those who get it, get it. And those who don’t may get it someday…

  9. Rosh HaShanah is not a Yom Tov, one of the three Jewish holidays.

It’s Yom HaDin, the Day of Judgment, and is best spent immersed in prayer and recitation of Psalms.

It’s not a time for socializing, eating long celebratory meals, and taking a nap.

It’s Yom HaDin, the Day of Judgment, and a man who truly loves his wife and children will spend this time as seriously and wisely as possible.

  10. It’s not a time for … eating long celebratory meals.

ויאמר להם לכו אכלו משמנים ושתו ממתקים, ושלחו מנות לאין נכון לו, כי-קדוש היום לאדונינו; ואל תיעצבו, כי חדוות ה’ היא מעוזכם
