VIDEO/PHOTOS: Israel Police Operation 700: Enforcement And Concern For The Neighborhood Of A-Tur In The Capital

Twenty persons suspected of participating in disturbances were arrested under arrest warrants in Operation 700 in A-Tur in the capital. M-1 weapons were seized, business licensing conditions were examined, and enforcement was carried out against house arrest and execution, while improving and renovating infrastructure and safety hazards, with emphasis on central streets in the heart of the neighborhood. Garbage dumps were cleared, scrap removed, and the invasion of public areas addressed.

Police and Border Police were operating in the A-Tur neighborhood of the eastern capital in the framework of Operation 700, an integrated police enforcement operation to locate and arrest rioters alongside enforcement activities in cooperation with the municipality.

The operation is intended to deal resolutely with all those involved in criminal offenses, disturbing public order and acts of terrorism. On the other hand, to improve the quality of life of law-abiding normative residents by arresting lawbreakers, examining the licensing conditions of businesses that provide services to local residents, that they comply with the law, examination of judicial decisions regarding house arrest and collection services for debts.

All of this was done in cooperation with municipality officials who worked in the field to remove garbage dumps, and address abandoned buildings and vehicles, which constitute safety hazards. Structures and sheds were evacuated and signs that posed a danger to pedestrians were removed as well as removing graffiti, painting and repairing lighting. Items placed in a public area without a permit and illegal takeover of parking compounds were addressed to.

A heavy emphasis was placed on public areas, main roads and the educational institutions. In addition community police marked sidewalks, pedestrian crossings and safety hazards have been marked for the safety of road users, pedestrians, and students attending kindergartens and schools.

Among other things, the traffic department police evacuated trucks and tractors that were abandoned in park areas and carried out enforcement where possible.

During the operation, targeted searches and arrests of suspects were conducted. Evidence and information about their participation in violent riots was collected during the recent period, which included throwing stones and Molotov cocktails at vehicles and security forces. Among those arrested were four suspected of attempting to set fire to a vehicle parked by throwing a Molotov cocktail.

All the detainees were brought for further investigation in the district units. Later they will be brought before the court.

This is another enforcement operation that was carried out in Jerusalem over the past year and the police and the municipality intend to continue carrying out similar and focused operations in addition to ongoing operational activity.
