US Condemns Hamas, Voices Support For Israel

The Obama administration is giving full-throttled support to Israeli airstrikes on the Gaza Strip.

In a statement, State Department spokesman Mark Toner said the following:

“We strongly condemn the barrage of rocket fire from Gaza into southern Israel, and we regret the death and injury of innocent Israeli and Palestinian civilians caused by the ensuing violence. There is no justification for the violence that Hamas and other terrorist organizations are employing against the people of Israel. We call on those responsible to stop these cowardly acts immediately. We support Israel’s right to defend itself, and we encourage Israel to continue to take every effort to avoid civilian casualties.

Hamas claims to have the best interests of the Palestinian people at heart, yet it continues to engage in violence that is counterproductive to the Palestinian cause. Attacking Israel on a near daily basis does nothing to help Palestinians in Gaza or to move the Palestinian people any closer to achieving self determination.”

  1. So I guess President Obama isn’t the anti-Israel, pro-Arab, anti-Semite who is just waiting until after the election to do Israel in. Maybe people will now get over their right wing paranoia and realize that he is not a socialist or communist either. Hey, maybe Healthcare for the sick, poor and uninsured is not such a bad ideal after all.

  2. To the pro o.amass shotim does the fact that he handles something properly mean that the obvious wrongs are not wrongs were you as generous with bush or Did u enjoy chanting “bush lied soldiers died”
while being silent about the Libya tragedy which is much more clearly an obama messy where people needlessly died

  3. Crazykanoly:
It doesn’t take much for you to approve Obama (though i sense you voted for him), but just wait awhile and in typical fashion he will backtrack, or clarify, or what other stuff he likes to do.

But really, this was a no-brainer. What else could he say, and it wasn’t the president who said it, one of his flunkies reading a prepared statement.

As for healthcare, you obviously have not read a thing about, otherwise you couldn’t say what you did.

This was not a “no-brainer,” and you and half the country fully expected the president to state “We condemn the escalation of violence brought about by Israel’s recent actions, and urge both sides to cease immediately.”

Instead, you got a response that could have been drafted by the IDF itself, and you still find room to complain.
