The Lakewood Police Dept. will be announcing a reward for information leading to the arrest of the hit and run driver who struck a Lakewood Chaveirim member on Feb 9 2013 while he was returning to his vehicle after responding to a call.

The Chaverim member was severely injured by the hit and run driver, and was transported to Jersey Shore Medical center, where he underwent surgery for numerous injuries. A Chaveirim coordinator tells YWN that he is B”H recovering, but it will be a long rehabilitation.

The Lakewood Police & Lakewood Chaveirim along with members of LCSW have being combing the streets of Lakewood searching for the vehicle, and are now asking for the public’s assistance in apprehending the person driving the vehicle which fled the scene.

One of the parts recovered from the scene was a piece of the front right bumper guard of a white or light-colored Astro van, years 1990-2005, with front right side passenger damage.

Additionally if you have a surveillance video camera mounted to your home in the vicinity of Somerset Avenue, you may be able to assist authorities in finding the person responsible.

“Homeowners or businesses in the area may not realize that their surveillance cameras may have captured images of the uncommon vehicle several blocks earlier, which may prove very valuable and helpful,” says a Chaveirim coordinator.

Anyone with information is asked to immediately call the Traffic & Safety division of the LPD at 732-363-0200, extension 5387.

A press conference will be held on Friday where officials will be announcing a reward for any information leading to the arrest of the driver.
