Israel: Imprisoned Terrorists Holding a 1 Day Hunger Strike

Seeking to increase international pressure against Israel, 800 terrorists imprisoned in Israel have announced that they are holding a one-day hunger strike on Tuesday, 9 Adar 5773. This includes terrorists affiliated with Hamas, PFLP, Islamic Jihad, and the Democratic Front terror organizations. The terrorists are imprisoned in Eshel, Rimon and Nafcha Prisons.

They explain their move is a showing of solidarity with four prisoners maintaining a prolonged hunger strike, including one doing so for about 200 days in protest against their continued incarceration by Israel.

There have been reports that Israel has already agreed to the release of over 500 terrorists in another good will gesture to the PA (Palestinian Authority) to coincide with the March 20, 2013 visit of US President Barak Obama to Israel. PA sources have also reported that included in the prisoner release are arch terrorists Marwan Barghouti and Ahmed Sa’adat. There has been no Israeli comment on these reports.
