Ravaad HaRav Moshe Sternbuch Blasts State AG Weinstein

shternbRavaad Eida Chareidis HaGaon HaRav Moshe Sternbuch Shlita released a strongly worded letter blasting Attorney General Yehuda Weinstein due to his blatant intervention into the running of the nation’s batei din.

Weinstein announced that dayanim issuing a ‘siruv’ against people who prefer to adjudicate their case in state civil courts may face criminal charges and the beis din may be targeted with financial sanctions at the digression of the attorney general’s office.

The Ravaad stated that his unwanted intervention in matters of Halacha will change nothing as dayanim and rabbonim will continue conducting life in accordance with Halacha and if need be, they will be imprisoned but his attempt to interfere in the workings of the Halachic judicial system is unacceptable on any level and is rejected outright.

To date, dati leumi elected officials have not publically commented on Weinstein’s ruling, which impacts the operation of the Chief Rabbinate of Israel’s judicial system too, not just private batei din. This comes as a surprise to many at present since the dati leumi community is making an unprecedented bid to regain control of the Chief Rabbinate from the chareidim and clearly, they too wish to run affairs in line with Halacha and not according to the dictates of the civil judicial system chas v’sholom.

  1. The various policies suggest that the hiloni rulers of Eretz Yisrael have finally concluded that frum Jews are “their misfortune” and plan to do something about it. Criminalizing religious courts, conscription, banning schools – are probably illegal under international human rights law. Serious relatively peaceful civil disobedience may be enough to force the zionists to tone down, but if that doesn’t work, close cooperation with the Arabs may be the only option.

  2. Weinstein should look at history from all democratic nations today to all nations in the last 100 years who was trying to destroy yeshivos and rabonim, the answer is written on the wall very clear, so if you want to declare yourself one of those say it I AM NOT A JEW and it over.

  3. Knowing the Rov Shlita and the tenacious approach with which the Rov is well known for B”H for Gedolim who champion these causes no matter what. Halevai Vaita!

A chareidi-Arab alliance, huh? As they say, birds of a feather…
