Greenfield Works With Sanitation and FDNY On Extra Trash Collections & Pesach Prep

dosTo make sure that Pesach preparations run smoothly and safely, Councilman David G. Greenfield has been working closely over the past few months with officials from various city agencies and community organizations, including the Department of Sanitation, Police Department and Fire Department, Shomrim, Chaveirim, Hatzolah and local community boards on increasing services, including expanded trash collection schedules and specific sites around the neighborhood for the burning of the Chometz.

To serve the needs of residents’ Pesach celebrations, the Sanitation Department will place large dumpsters at six locations throughout Borough Park on the evening of Sunday, March 24th. These dumpsters will be available for public use until 4 p.m. on Monday, March 25th. In addition, extra trash and recycling collection for all residents of Community Board 12 will start at midnight on Sunday, March 24th and continue until the entire area is served. Bulk pickup for homes in this area will take place from Monday, March 11th to Friday, March 22nd.

Residents of Community Board 14 will have additional trash collection on Friday, March 22nd for areas with regular pickup on Mondays and Thursdays, and on Monday, March 25th for areas with regular pickup on Tuesdays and Fridays or Wednesdays and Saturdays. An additional recycling collection will be offered on Monday, March 25th for all Community Board 14 residents, meaning recyclables should be placed curbside on the evening of Sunday, March 24th.

In addition, the Sanitation Department’s BK 11 garage has agreed to Greenfield’s request that homes in the southern portion of the community between Dahill Road and 14th Avenue from 60th Street to 68th Street also get a special collection of all materials on Monday, March 25th. This will ensure that those residents in newly emerging Orthodox Jewish neighborhoods receive the same additional services that the rest of the community relies on for Pesach.

“This is one of the busiest times of year around Borough Park and Flatbush. That’s why I am working with the appropriate city agencies to make sure Pesach is enjoyed by everyone and that my neighborhoods receive additional services to help prepare for the yomtov. I especially want to thank the NYPD, Fire Department and Sanitation Department for the amazing work they do for the community during this time of the year,” said Councilman Greenfield.

Dumpsters will be available for disposal of household items at the following locations: 50th Street and 9th Avenue, 41st Street and 12thAvenue, 45th Street and 14th Avenue, 53rd Street and 14th Avenue, 48th Street and 16th Avenue and 55th Street and 18th Avenue. In addition, Councilman Greenfield worked with the FDNY and local community boards to establish 33 sites for the burning of the Chometz, to allow residents to safely take part in this tradition. The fires will be allowed to burn at those sites from 8:30 a.m. to 11:35 a.m. and will be overseen by Shomrim, Chaveirim and the Fire Department’s Education and Marshall units.

Councilman Greenfield has been working with Community Board 12 District Manager Wolf Sender and Chairman Yidel Perlstein and Community Board 14 District Manager Shawn Campbell and Chairman Alvin Berk over the past month to make sure the neighborhoods they represent are prepared for the upcoming holiday.

“This truly has been a team effort to make sure this year’s Pesach celebrations run as smoothly as possible. My thanks to the leadership at Community Board 12 and Community Board 14 for their hard work over the past month to make sure all the necessary preparations are in place on behalf of Borough Park and Flatbush residents,” added Councilman Greenfield.

  1. How much money does greenfield pay you guys to run a daily story about him doing “amazing” things for the community?

Helene Weinstein has been doing the same for years, so has your favorite punching bag Dov hikind.

Moderators Response: And YWN published the info about Helene Weinstein…and your point now is what? http://www.theyeshivaworld.com/article.php?p=160866

  2. you left my hikind comment out!!! Dov is amazing….how come you guys beat him up and dont mention all his good work

Moderators Note: Dov Hikind refuses to send his press releases to YWN. If he did, they would be published. They have been requested numerous times. Fox News isn’t left winged, and bashes Obama all day, yet they still receive press releases and the rest of the goodies from the Obama Whitehouse.
