Boro Park: Woman Robbed, Attacked on Subway, Video Shows

sPolice are searching for a man who was captured on surveillance video violently attacking a woman on the subway in Brooklyn last month.

The video shows the suspect following the 56-year-old victim down the stairs at the 18th Avenue F train station in Borough Park at about 2:40 a.m. March 9. He punches her repeatedly and eventually throws her to the ground.

The suspect empties the woman’s purse as she lays on the ground, and then when she tries to escape, he chases after her. He finally runs off when he gets a hold of the woman’s purse.

It’s not clear if he first targeted the woman at the station or on the train. Subway riders in the neighborhood were rattled when they saw the brutal attack video.

“It gives you nightmares. That’s awful,” said Claudia Trapp of Borough Park, who says fear of such violent robberies keep her from riding the subway late at night.

“You know that could be somebody’s mother. And to hit an old lady like that, that can’t be happening,” said one male subway rider.

Police are still looking for the suspect, who can be seen in the video wearing a hoodie sweatshirt with “Alpha Phi Delta” on the front, and “Stugotz” and the number 27 on the back.

The woman sustained minor injuries.

  1. something about this story doesnt make sense. why would a 65 year old frum lady be going on the train at 2:40 in the morning??

  2. @Mosh3

Who says she is Jewish ? Even if she is, why is it your business why she is on the subway at 2:40 AM ?!?!?!?!?

P.S. If you saw the video, the woman is wearing pants….

  3. Mosh. Are you aware March 9th was a shabbos? This pants wearing, 56 year old (not 65) lady who was exiting the train on shabbos, was likely not frum. Frum or not, I only wish someone happened by the scene and beat the daylights out of the attacker.
