Chabad Shaliach Rabbi Mendel Gurewitz, 39, was attacked by youths in the German city of Offenbach, German media reports. According to the rabbi, he was assaulted by six to eight �Mediterranean looking� attackers.

The attack, which occurred in a shopping center, was reported to local police, who are reportedly investigating. Mark Dainow, a local Jewish official, was critical of the security guards in the shopping center for failing to come to the victim�s assistance. A shopping center security official later issued an apology.

At some point, the rabbi managed to make a run for it and B�chasdei Hashem, a friend was passing in a vehicle and scooped him up and drove him away from the danger.

There is no mention of the rav being injured.
