Relief from Headaches and Nausea on Fast Days

Headaches (migraines) and nausea are not uncommon during  fast days. However, for many, the severity can be debilitating, says Rabbi Yaacov Hirschman of the Kollel Avreichim in Toronto.

With these sufferers in mind, the Kollel has announced the availability of a specially formulated, non-prescription acetylsalicylic acid based, sustained-timed release capsule to alleviate unnecessary suffering.
Taken before a fast begins, the formulation of acetylsalicylic acid (aspirin) (Advil and Tylenol formulas also available) is not released into the blood stream for approximately 12 hours. And, when the capsule begins working, it will effectively release and keep headaches and nausea at bay till the conclusion of the fast.
“Most importantly,” notes Rabbi Hirschman, “We are not required to have headaches and nausea on Tisha B’Av or Yom Kippur, which means the formulation can be taken with a clear conscience.”
According to Rabbi Hirschman, the formulation has been extremely popular since it was introduced by the Kollel two decades ago–as numerous letters of approval bear testament, including the editor of the Yated Ne’eman.
“What’s really surprising,” says Rabbi Hirschman, “is that the product works best for those with the severest symptoms.”

  1. I think these pills work great. Ive used them many times in the past, and I they really help, specifically for headaches.

  2. I found the best thing to help prevent sickness from a fast was to detoxify from caffeine. I used to get very ill and one time they wanted to take me to a hospital for observation; I could not even break the fast.

It was coffee! I stopped coffee drinking and coke type drinis and it was not easy to give up caffeine, but I only drink tea. I slowly reduce my tea intake several days before a fast and I never get headaches anymore; the worst is I feel slow.

Caffeine is a drug. If you do not have it your body craves it. Although it is in tea too, and some will mistakenly tell you even more in tea, l’maasah, it is in much smaller doses and my body can handle it.

Try doing with out caffeine and see what happens if you don’t believe me.
