IDF Good Will During Ramadan

papIn a good will gesture to Muslim during the month of Ramadan, which is underway, the IDF has relaxed security restrictions in a number of areas. This includes open passage to all PA (Palestinian Authority) residents over 60-years-old wishing to cross into Green Line Israel during the month. They do not have to obtain permits as is the case year-round.

In addition, 20,000 PA residents will be permitted to cross into “Israel proper” daily, first line relatives wishing to see family during Ramadan.

Other measures include;

1. Permitting minors to visit Har Habayis if they are accompanied by adults,

2. Permitting 500 foreigners to cross into Israel via the Allenby Crossing to visit family during Ramadan,

3. Permitting food into Israel via crossings,

4. Maintain longer operating hours at crossings such as Allenby to accommodate the increase in the number of people traveling,

The decision by IDF Chief of Staff Lt.-Gen. Benny Gantz was approved by Defense Minister Moshe Ya’alon.
