Gov’t Inspections Increase as Bein Hazmanim Approaches

A number of yeshivos have failed inspections in recent days. Government inspectors arrived days before bein hazmanim to make sure lomdei Torah who are not serving in the IDF are occupying the benches of the beis medrash as they should be.

Days before tens of thousands of bnei yeshivos head out for bein hazmanim, state inspectors are running to many yeshivos for a roll call. Kikar Shabbos reports אורחות תורה, a Bnei Brak yeshiva was inspected and passed last week. Inspectors arrived on Sunday in רינה של תורה Carmiel on Sunday, erev Rosh Chodesh Menachem Av 5773. The latter belongs to the same funding non-profit as the former. The latter, the yeshiva in Carmiel failed because inspectors arrived late in the day and many talmidim had left. As a result, both yeshivos failed because they are tied to the same funding organization.

When inspectors arrived on Sunday at 15:00 in Jerusalem’s אור ברוך Yeshiva only 10 talmidim were present. The afternoon seder was scheduled to begin at 16:00 but this did not interest inspectors who saw an empty beis medrash. Inspectors arrived at the Nadvorna Yeshiva in Bnei Brak on Monday morning, rosh chodesh, and once again, there were too few talmidim to pass.

At the אור אלחנן Yeshiva inspectors arrived at 20:00 when most talmidim were eating dinner. When the talmidim were summoned to the beis medrash, everyone who arrived “late” was marked as absent, once again, leading to a failing grade, Kikar reports.

  1. All Yeshiva’s in E.Y. should adhere to Psak of the Satmar rebbe z”l and stop taking money from the Israli Goverement, there are many gevirim in the US and Europe to fill the gap
